WILMINGTON — Laris Layton Milligan, 93, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 20, 1924, in Ash, N.C., he was a son of Meckum Richard Milligan and Belva Simmons Milligan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Thelma Smith-Babson, Lester Milligan, Delbert Milligan, Curtis Milligan, M.R. “Mike” Milligan Jr. and Melton Milligan.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Irene Milligan; children, Dr. Laris Wayne Milligan, and his wife, Gwen, and Sandra Milligan Gray, and her husband, Dwight; granddaughter, Brittany Gray Jackway, and her husband, Andy; siblings, John Milligan, Sherwood Milligan and Louise Gray; and extended family.
Mr. Milligan was a member of Masonboro Baptist Church. He retired from Timme Corporation after 28 years of service.
In his leisure, he enjoyed gardening and fishing. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and Papa.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, at Masonboro Baptist Church, with a funeral service following at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow services at 2 p.m. in the Smith Family Cemetery, Ash.
