
HAMPSTEAD — George Leon Mallcheck, 71, passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at his home.
He was born Jan. 16, 1947, in Canton, Ohio, the son of Peter Mallcheck and Gilberta Rousseau Mallcheck.
George worked for many years as a cabinetmaker. He served his country with honor and distinction in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
George is survived by his daughters, Bonnie Mallcheck, and her husband, Shane Harris, and Shannon Dodd, and her husband, Brian Dodd; brothers, Richard Mallcheck and Ish Louis; sisters, Nancy Matheson and Sherry Sanborn; as well as numerous grandchildren and other family members. He is also survived by his beloved pets, Shorty and Gizzy Mallcheck.
Together, with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, June; sister, Germaine Louis; brother, Robert Mallcheck; and great-grandson, Jacob Watkins.
He hung in there like a hair on a biscuit. He was loved and will be missed by many.
Family and friends are invited to a service to celebrate George’s life from 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, March 3, at the Holly Ridge Community Center, 404 Sound Road, Holly Ridge. The U.S. Army will present a rendering of military honors in recognition of George’s honorable and faithful service to his country.
