
WILMINGTON — Retired U.S. Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Vincent W. “Bill” Auber Jr., 84, passed away Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018.
Born Aug. 7, 1933, in Gainesville, Fla., he was the son of Vincent W. Auber Sr. and Myrtice R. Hubbard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Earle Covil Auber; sisters, Pansy Register and Norene Kinsey; and brothers, Eugene Bullard and James “Friday” Bullard.
He is survived by his four daughters, Rose Brown (Barry), Camelia Parnapy (Jim), Pansy Kline (Paul) and Violet Morton (Elijah); six grandchildren, Anthony “Tony” Hamric (Lisa), Timothy “Tim” Morton, Curtis Morton (Ganise), Jennifer Ward (Eric), Sarah Brown and Daniel Brown; four step-grandchildren, Mike, Tommy, Jamie and Dee; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Viann Mitchell.
Mr. Auber retired from the U.S. Marine Corps and Wrightsville Beach Police Department. He was a member of FRA and Hampstead Baptist Church. In his leisure, he enjoyed gardening, fishing and working on small engines.
Daddy will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Andrews Hampstead Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Hampstead Baptist Church. Burial with full military honors will be held in Sea Lawn Memorial Park, Hampstead.
