CASTLE HAYNE — Pauline Gurganus Smith Ottaway, 91, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018. She was born Dec. 3, 1926, in Jacksonville, N.C., to Jesse and Sally Gurganus.
In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherrill “Skip” Dees; husband, Marvin Smith; and brothers, Jim and Buddy Gurganus.
She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Hawkins, and her husband, Eddie, and Paula Blackburn, and her husband, Jimmy; grandchildren, Lee Blackburn, and his wife, Angela, Stephen Blackburn, Shawn Dees, Brian Dees and Jason Dees; sister, Allie Batson; and brother, Henry Gurganus.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Services officiated by Pastor Ray Murray and wife Janet. A visitation will take place one hour prior to services. Interment will follow the service in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
