
CASTLE HAYNE — Walter Clarence Carter Sr., 76, passed away peacefully at home Monday, Nov. 13, 2017. Walter was born Oct. 11, 1941, son of the late Clyde Clarence Carter and the late Octavia Mae Crumpler.
Walter was a well-known electrician in the community. He started East Coast Electrical Company in 1976. Walter and his son Walter Jr. worked side by side for 37 years.
Walter loved to spend his vacations in the mountains with his family and friends. He was a true NASCAR racing fan, and he also loved going on fishing trips with his friends.
Walter was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Carter; and sister, Joanna Vernon.
Walter is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joanna Sebrell Carter; daughter, Teresa Marshburn (Bryan); son, Walter Carter Jr. (Karen); granddaughter, Alysha Carroll; grandson, Aaron Harts; three step-grandchildren, Melanie, Joshua and Sarah Mooseman; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, Friday, Nov. 17, at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service. A funeral service will take place at noon with the Rev. Jerry Green officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The pallbearers will be Allen Williams, Lee Cavenaugh, Billy Sebrell, Gill Rodriguez, Ron Stoner and Butch Beaudry. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Hyatt and Bryan Marshburn.
