WILMINGTON — Laura Veronica “Lala” Quinn Ashton, 87, died Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at home.
Laura was born July 24, 1929, in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late James Joseph Quinn and Edith Abbott Quinn. Her husband, John Patrick Ashton; son, Charles ‘Chippy’ Ashton; and sister, Isabelle Marine, preceded her in death.
She was a kind, caring, and loving mother, sister, grandmother, friend, and acquaintance who always made doing things for others look effortless. She strove to find the good in others, as she believed God would have wanted her to. She will be greatly missed, fondly remembered and never forgotten.
She is survived by four children, Laura Ashton, John Ashton (Kathleen), Eileen Ashton and Mark James Ashton (Charlesana); seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Quinn (Maryanne).
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, June 17, at Andrews Market Street Chapel. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 19, at Basilica Shrine of St. Mary with the Rev. Bob Kus officiating. Interment will be held in New Jersey at a later date.
