WILMINGTON — Cody Allen Kinney, 26, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, June 5, 2017.
He was born Dec. 19, 1990, in Lancaster, Ohio, to Wendy Funkhouser and Steve Kinney.
He was a 2009 graduate of Eugene Ashley High School. Cody was a passionate writer and culinary artist who loved to share his creations with his family and friends. He was a friend to all who knew him and had an infectious laugh that will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his parents, Wendy Funkhouser and Steve Kinney; maternal grandparents, Sharon and Jim Funkhouser; paternal grandmother, Ruth Kinney; brother, Tyler Kinney; aunts, Sherry (Brad) Weaver, Sonya (Ed) Chaffin and Sharon (John) Fetherolf; cousins, James, Amanda and Aaron (Lori) Weaver, Ashtyn and Justin Chaffin, J.T. (Katrina) and Christina Fetherolf; and his girlfriend, Gretta.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, John Kinney; and great-grandmother, Thelma Scott.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a future date in Lancaster, Ohio.
