WILMINGTON — Nancy Greer Donaghy, 91, formerly of Havertown, Penn., passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016, with her daughter by her side at Davis Health Care Center.
Nancy was born Dec. 22, 1925, in Bryn Mawr, Penn., to the late William L. Greer and Louise Harmstead Greer.
Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Fred Eagle Donaghy Jr.; and cherished son-in-law, William D’Emilio.
Nancy was a devoted wife, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Nancy married the love of her life on Sept. 11, 1948, and together, they enjoyed a life full of family, friends and adventures.
Nancy loved to travel, dance, play bridge, and was an avid reader. She was a longtime volunteer with Fred at Second Helpings for the Good Shepherd Ministries. She will be remembered for a giving heart.
Nancy is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Barbara D’Emilio; son, James Donaghy (Deborah) of Shawnee, Kan.; grandchildren, Lindsey D’Emilio, Nicholas D’Emilio (Kristin), Christopher Donaghy, Kyle Donaghy and Kelly Donaghy Escobar (D.J.); great-grandchildren, Kylie, Brooklyn and Cole D’Emilio; sister, Louise (Dick) Johnson; nephews, Rick and Bill Johnson; nieces, Wynn Ann Roggeveen and Nanci Perkaus; cousin, Frances (Sam) Getty; and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at Andrews Hampstead Chapel with the Rev. Richard Elliot officiating.
Memorial gifts in Nancy’s name may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401. Burial will follow in Sea Lawn Memorial Park.
