Joyce Bowen Collins, 80, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at her residence, surrounded by her family.
She was born on June 23, 1936, the daughter of the late Eugene and Ruby Evans Bowen
For over 25 years, she worked for Dupont as an accountant. When she retired, she went to work for H&R Block in Wilmington. She also attended UNCW to further her education by taking a variety of educational courses.
Joyce enjoyed horseback riding, reading and writing, a day at the beach, and tennis. Her love was her family and friends. Joyce will be remembered as an incredibly thoughtful and kind person. She always put others before herself and was the first to lend a hand.
She is survived by her son, Keith, and his wife, Cheryl Collins,of Wilmington; two daughters, Rhonda Harden and Sondra Waters, both of Wilmington;
one brother, Gaither Deitz of Wilmington; two sisters, Jean, and her husband, R.H. Whitman, and Senie Blume, all of Wilmington; and four grandchildren, Joshua Harden, Ashton Harden, Daniel Collins and Amber Collins. Her special love was her dog, “Sweetie Pie.”
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel.
