
WILMINGTON — Heaven gained a new angel on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, when John lost his lifelong battle to diabetes. John was born in Wilmington, N.C., on Dec. 11, 1968.
He was a loving and devoted father, son, brother and uncle.
John is survived by his children, Jay, David, Brysen and Emma Cauley; his mother, Fran Cauley; his sisters, Wendy Willis (Terry), Allison Cauley; his dearly loved fiance, Jody Batson; three stepchildren, eight grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; and former wife, Sonya Cauley.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Cauley; his paternal grandparents, Jerry and Louise Rhew; and his maternal grandparents, Frank and Virginia Hazelton.
He was a die-hard Carolina Tarheel fan and loved playing ball with his children. John loved his family dearly and was always there to brighten their day with his contagious smile and kind words of encouragement.
A service will be held in his honor at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 6 p.m.
