SUNSET BEACH — Joan Winstead Lockhart, 73, of Sunset Beach, N.C., passed away on Nov. 3, 2016, in Wilmington, N.C.
Joan was preceded in death by her father Dr. Arthur W. Winstead Sr.; her mother, Margaret Truesdale Winstead; son Kemon Arthur Moseley; and father-in-law Bernard Lockhart.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Lockhart; stepson Damon Lockhart and his wife Hannah; brother Bill Winstead and his wife Erica; mother in law Beverly Robinson; brother in law Randy Lockhart and Karen Herbin-Davis; sister in law Marianne Gilbert and her husband Tommy; stepdaughter Cotton Armstrong; stepson Trip Fortune; and Joan’s faithful companion “Sweet Tea.”
There will be a service at Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church, located at 5869 Ocean Highway West, Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469 on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m. An interment service will be held at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612 at 3 p.m. that afternoon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Joan W. Lockhart to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Center, 1406 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401; or to the SECU Family House, 1523 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401.
