Mabel Estes Lee, 86, of Boone, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday. Sept. 7, 2016, in Universal Healthcare, Bolivia, North Carolina.
Born in Lenoir, North Carolina, on Feb. 12, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Leonard Boone and Lillie Louella Estes. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Robert Gray Lee; two brothers, Lank Estes and Walter Estes Sr.; and a sister, Mary Moore.
Mrs. Lee was a longtime member Arlington Forest United Methodist Church, Arlington, Virginia, and was retired from the Navy Regional Finance Center as an accounts supervisor. In her retirement, she enjoyed cooking, cake decorating, quilting and floral arranging. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
Survivors include two loving daughters, Melinda Bosley and husband, Bill, of Leland, North Carolina; Michele Weaver and husband, Dwayne, of Falls Church, Virginia; grandchildren, Robert Weaver of Round Hill, Virginia andAmanda Weaver of Harrisonburg, Virginia; niece and nephews, Walter Estes Jr. and wife Reggie, John Moore and wife Sybile and Patricia Smith and husband Charles; one great niece; and several great nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. in the National Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends prior to the services from noon until 1 p.m., just prior to the service.
