George Herman Kuester Sr., 98, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016.
Mr. Kuester was born Jan. 17, 1918, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Herman and Clara Kuester. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II and obtaining sharpshooter qualification.
Mr. Kuester worked for 42 years for Michigan Bell Telephone Company. He started as a lineman and retired as a computer systems analyst.
He enjoyed landscaping and was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt. He remodeled his entire house and even built his garage. Mr. Kuester was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He taught his sons all about boating and water skiing.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, Stefanie Spurney Kuester, and his second wife Cynthia Engel Kuester; a brother, Charles Otto Kuester; and a sister, Mary Lou Rothe.
Survivors include his two sons, George Kuester Jr. and wife Heidi of Boiling Spring Lakes and Kurt C. Kuester and wife Debbie of Cocoa, Florida; a sister, Dorothy Isgrigg of Clearwater, Florida; three grandchildren, Erika Galloway and husband Ian, Krista Larsen and husband Issac and Geoffrey Kuester; and two great-grandchildren, Carl Larsen and August Larsen.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
