Salvatore J. Bucolo, 87, of Hampstead, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
Born May 11, 1928 in New York City, he was the son of the late Salvatore Bucolo and Frances Calcavecchia Bucolo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dora Mazzone.
Sal served in the US Army during the Korean War. He had an affinity for plants and trees, and his family was the most important aspect of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marilyn Bucolo; his daughter, Diane Spoonhour and son-in-law Erich Spoonhour of Hampstead; his grandchildren, Amanda Ross, Kevin Ross, Tyler Ross, Aidan Spoonhour, Abigail Spoonhour and Ethan Spoonhour; and numerous extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016 at All Saints Catholic Church in Hampstead.
