Brownlow “Brownie” Morris Pack Jr., 92, of Wilmington, died Thursday, Jan, 28, 2016 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center.

He was born on Aug, 30, 1923, in Greenville, South Carolina, the son of the late Brownlow Morris Pack, Sr. and Rose Edna Banning Pack. Also remembered is the love of his life and wife of over 70 years, Bonnie Grace Coulter Pack, as well as, his siblings, Mildred Josephine Pack Powell, James Charles Pack and Julia Ann Pack Elgazabal, all of who preceded Mr. Pack in death.

Mr. Pack was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps, having served during World War II as a gunner in the Bomber Squadron in the Philippines. He was awarded a purple heart, as well as being a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. “He who wears the Purple Heart has given of his blood in the defense of his homeland and shall forever be revered by his fellow countrymen.”–George Washington.

Brownie was a pilot for Piedmont Airlines for 26 years. He was a faithful member and elder for over 36 years at Covenant Church in Wilmington, where he was involved in countless church activities. He was also an avid golfer.

Surviving is his son, Brownlow Morris Pack, III and wife JoAnn Crabtree; two grandchildren, Matthew Brent Pack and wife Leigh-Ann, and Bonnie Grace Pack Moss; five great-grandchildren, Matthew Brandon Pack, Nora Lillian “Lillie” Pack, Madelyn Rose Pack, Christopher Tyler Moss and Mason Cole Moss; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and their families with whom he was blessed. And not to be forgotten, his precious “Ms. Molly Pack.”

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30 at Covenant Church, followed by a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Fred Dorsey, Daniel Scott Furr, Andrew Martin Furr, Russell Brian Furr, David Bryan Bensch and James Stephen Furr, Jr.
