Denise Ann Sharkey, 64, of Wilmington, passed away Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016.
Denise was born 1951 and raised in Suffolk County, New York. She moved to Wilmington in 1986 with husband, John, and three sons.
She pursued art, wrote, performed theater and puppet plays and fine painting. She will be remembered as a cheerful, compassionate friend always ready to help, sacrificing her own needs for others, asking little in return.
She is survived by hers sons, Henry, Lucas and Tyler; three grandsons, her brother, Bobby Young; and sister, Carol Winfield. She as preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Rose Young; and brothers, Greg and Jeffery Young.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30 at the Basilica Shrine of St. Mary, 412 Ann St. Wilmington, with a reception to follow at the Firehouse Suite, 602 S. Fifth Ave.
