David Charles McComb, 55, former pharmacist who opened a successful irrigation business in NC

David Charles McComb, of Ocean Isle Beach and formerly of Naples, Florida and Athens, Ohio, died suddenly on Oct. 3, 2015, at his home. He was 55.

David was born on May 8, 1960, a son of Janet McComb, of Sunset Beach and the late John McComb. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by three uncles and his faithful dog, Pokie.

He graduated from Athens High School in 1978, Ohio University in 1985 and Ohio State University College of Pharmacy in 1988.
David was a registered pharmacist in Athens, Ohio and Naples, Florida. After moving to North Carolina, he owned and operated a successful irrigation business.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Laurie Dobbins and husband, Tony, of Shallotte; niece, Alexis Dobbins; nephew, Michael Dobbins; aunt, Connie Mattson, of Sunset Beach; uncle and aunt, Donald and Marcia McComb, of Laytonsville, Maryland; and several cousins and great-cousins.

A celebration of life will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, at the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel.  Inurnment will be private.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to Brunswick County Animal Protective Services, P.O. Box 92, Supply, NC 28462, or a charity of one’s choice.
