Vivian H. Holden, of Shallotte, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015. at the age of 89.
She was born in Brunswick County on Oct. 31, 1925, a daughter of the late Covington and Ethel Hewett Holden. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Holden; daughter-in-law, Janelle Holden; and several siblings.
She was an active member of Shallotte Volunteer Rescue Squad for many years. She loved her church, Oak Grove and Trinity Baptist Churches, where she enjoyed singing in the choir.
Surviving are two sons, George Holden (Eve), of Fayetteville and Gary Holden, Newport News, Virginia; a brother, Minor Hewett; four grandchildren, Tommy Holden, Meg H. Kimmel, Jeremy Holden and Joe Holden; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2015, from the graveside at Oak Grove Cemetery.
