William ‘Will’ Harry Marmura, 78, built Shallotte dream house, embraced wonderful local lifestyle

William “Will” Harry Marmura, the father of two amazing sons, grandfather to four beautiful grandchildren and devoted husband, of Shallotte, died peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, in the comfort of his home after 78 wonderful years.

Born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on Feb. 3, 1936, he was the youngest of four siblings of the late Mike and Pearl Baligrosky Marmura. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering at the University of Pittsburgh which brought him to work at the Federal Regulatory commission in Washington. He spent the next four decades in the DC area where he married his beautiful bride, Janet, in 1971 and they were blessed with two boys. During this time, he also received his J.D. at George Washington University Law School.

Will and Janet built their dream house in Shallotte in 2008 and fully embraced their wonderful lifestyle in 2011. Everyone who crossed his path learned something special from him and were also inspired by Will. He was a dedicated member of the St. Brendan Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

William loved to donate his spare time working with the Loaves and Fishes program at the church and he volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Brunswick County. He was a very humble, caring and loving man who will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Will is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Janet R. Marmura; sons, Michael J. Marmura and wife, Stacey, of Philadelphia and Matthew T. Marmura and wife, Tina, of Cary; four loving grandchildren, Julia, Thomas, Jake and Alec Marmura; two amazing sisters, Emily Wilson and Lenore Sushko, of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania.

A Mass of the resurrection will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at St. Brendan Catholic Church.
