Walter Willetts, of Wilmington and formerly of Supply, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. He was 89.
Mr. Willetts was born in Brunswick County on Feb. 1, 1925, and was the son of the late George F. and Rosa Reaves Willetts. He owned and operated Willetts Heating and Air for 55 years. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed metal detecting.
He is survived by his wife, Kay F. Willetts; 10 children, Gracie Varnum, of Supply, Jamie Willetts, of Wilmington, Darlene McGee, of Shallotte, Jerry Willetts, of Supply, Alvin Willetts, of Varnamtown, Debbie Clark, of Rocky Point, Lisa Ryan, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Arthur “Buddy” Norris, of Wilmington, Elizabeth Ann Howard, of Wilmington and Tracy Norris, of Greenville; a brother, Hilton Willetts, of Leland; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, at White Funeral Service, 3660 Express Dr., Shallotte and other times from the home of Gracie Varnum, 1887 Seashore Road, Supply. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, at Soldier Bay Baptist Church, 3905 Whiteville Road NW, Ash, NC with the Rev. Charlie Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery.
