Laura Louise Johnson Rivenbark, 74, retired from Brunswick Co. School Child Nutrition Dept.

Laura Louise Johnson Rivenbark, of Bolivia, died Oct. 14, 2014, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 74.

She was born Jan. 5, 1940, the second of three children born to John Daniel Johnson and Jessie Edith Lesh Johnson in Bolivia.

Laura graduated from Bolivia High School and earned an associates degree in accounting from the business program at Miller Motte College. She retired from Brunswick County Schools Child Nutrition Department.

She was an avid traveler, genealogist, a water color artist and loved gardening, her family and her heavenly father. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, attending the Southport Branch.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elwood Franklin Rivenbark; and her brother, Johnny Johnson.

She is survived by her children, Lucretia Rivenbark Britton, Alicia Rivenbark Vanover and husband, Thomas, Kristofer Ray Rivenbark and Daniel Bladwin and family; grandchildren, Robert Alan Britton, Kristofer Ray Rivenbark, Jacob Aaron Vanoer and Austin Ty Vanover; great-grandson, Bentley Ray Rivenbark; sister, Carolyn Johnson Hollis and husband, Jimmy; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom were dear to her heart.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at Andrews Valley Chapel, 4108 S College Road, Wilmington, NC. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1361 Old Fayetteville Road, Leland, NC. Burial follows at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1311 Shipyard Blvd., Wilmington.
