
Steve Groce was known for his hearty laugh and quick wit.
Due to cardiac arrest, Mr. Groce died on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013.
Born in Greensboro, Mr. Groce traveled down to the University of Georgia where he received an MBA. During his 30-year career in internet technology, he lived in many places but was happy to retire back to his home state in 2008 right here in North Carolina.
Mr. Groce was a proud and avid Georgia Bulldog alumnus and enjoyed traveling, golfing, playing pool, preparing taxes for others and participating in the volunteer efforts of Friends of Sea Turtles-Oak Island. He was a loving husband, son, brother and uncle.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby.
He leaves behind his wife, Peggy, of St. James; father, Doug Groce Sr.; brothers, Doug Groce Jr. and wife Tracey and Chris Groce and wife Kelly, all from Jacksonville, Fla.; and 11 beautiful nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Southport at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow.
