Thomas Edward Thompson, Jr., 72, of Brunswick Plantation, Calabash, formerly of Worcester, Mass., died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013.
After high school, Mr. Thompson graduated from Assumption College of Worcester, served in the U.S. Army and later retired from the Office of Personnel Management in Washington. He moved to Brunswick Plantation, <afterwards> where he became a member and was instrumental in the organization and construction of St. Brendans Catholic Church having served on the building committee and in the choir.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas E. Thompson, Sr. and Gertrude Dailey Thompson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Mary E. Thompson; sons, Kevin Michael Thompson, of Warrenton, Va., Kenneth Mark Thompson of Calabash and Keith Matthew Thompson of Dumfries, Va.; daughter, Kristine Caudle and husband Michael of Bristow, Va.; brother, James Charles Thompson and wife Christine of Young Harris, Ga.; sister, Priscilla Underwood of Worcester, Mass.; and grandchildren, Brittany, Brooke and Kyle Caudle.
A mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at St. Brendans Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at the church columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Thompson’s name to St. Brendans Catholic Church, “Loaves and Fishes Ministry” PO Box 2984, Shallotte, NC 28459.
