Ralph John Reiser Jr., 78, adored ‘memory-maker’

Unexpectedly at his home in Southport, Ralph John Reiser, Jr., died on Oct. 8, 2013.

Mr. Reiser graduated from Aquinas High School in Columbus, Ohio and from the Ohio State University. After 40 years of service he retired as National Sales Director for Libbey Owens Ford in Toledo, Ohio and moved to St. James Plantation in Southport to enjoy life and golf in equal amounts.

Mr. Reiser never met a stranger and passed the days making people smile. He was an adored husband, loving father, supportive step-father, a memory-making grandfather and trusted brother. He was taken too soon but was well-loved and those close to him are thankful for the life he lived, the legacy he left and the memories they shared with him.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Margo; parents, Ralph and Glenola Reiser; and brother, William Reiser.

He is survived by his loving wife, Martha; children, Jennie (Kevin) Scoby of Columbus, Ohio, Heather (John) Chase of Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. and RJ (Nicci) Reiser of Houston, Texas; stepchildren, David (Ellen) Wortman of Wilmington, Jess (Emma) Wortman of Dallas, Texas and Laura Wortman of Dallas, Texas; siblings, James (Ann) Reiser, Jacqueline (David) Redding, Michael Reiser and Lynda (Herb) Schwanekamp; grandchildren, Ryan, Heather and Collin Rice, Jack, Thomas and Lanie Chase and Julia, John and Reid Reiser; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The funeral liturgy will be at noon on Friday Oct. 11, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Southport.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to First Tee of Brunswick County, PO Box 1820, Shallotte, NC 28459.
