WILMINGTON — Battleship North Carolina will be the venue of a docuseries screening and round table on Monday.
Spectrum and HISTORY will host a showing of episode five of “World War II with Tom Hanks,” “The War at Sea”, along with a round table discussion with Sen. Michael Lee (R-New Hanover), Honor Flight of the Cape Fear Area, and WWII expert Rob Centino. The group will discuss Wilmington’s World War II heritage and preservation efforts, the state’s investments in supporting active duty and military veteran families and honoring the legacy of World War II veterans. It will be moderated by Spectrum News North Carolina anchor Tim Boyum.
“As we continue to celebrate America250, it is vital to honor the generation whose courage and sacrifice shaped our nation,” Lee said. “Through this screening, residents of all ages can reflect on our history and ensure these lessons endure, while partnering with Spectrum, and HISTORY to create a meaningful community event.”
Mayor Bill Saffo and over 40 veterans will attend. Reception begins at 6:30 p.m. and the panel and screening will begin at 7 p.m. at the fantail of Battleship North Carolina on 1 Battleship Road NE. There will also be live entertainment from the Cape Fear Chordsmen.
