LELAND — The Leland Fire Department will conduct a live fire training this coming weekend.

The training is scheduled for 10241 Blackwell Road SE on Saturday, May 16, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The training will include setting controlled fires in order to train firefighters on emergency response.

Blackwell and Chappell Loop roads will remain open for drivers, but should expect minor delays. Smoke and fire apparatuses will be present in the area throughout the length of training.

Any fire detected as part of the training is unrelated to the permanent ban on open burning for land-clearing purposes.
