The move marks the first phase of opening for the centralized Health and Human Services facility, unanimously approved by the Board of Commissioners in 2022. The 75,000-square-foot complex was designed to replace aging offices on Walker Street and provide a “one-stop shop” for residents.
The new site was built to accommodate Pender County’s projected growth over the next two decades and includes expanded visitation areas for families and a large multipurpose room capable of hosting up to 400 people.
While digital and phone services will remain active during the two-day move, the county warned that response times for calls and emails may be slightly delayed.
Residents can continue to reach Pender County DSS or Child Support Enforcement throughout the transition with any questions.
