Pedestrian critically injured in Independence Boulevard hit-and-run

WILMINGTON — A man suffered life-threatening injuries in a hit-and-run collision on Independence Boulevard Wednesday evening.

Wilmington Police Department officers responded to the 4200 block of the road around 7:26 p.m. after receiving reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. The driver responsible fled the scene before officers arrived.

The victim was transported to the hospital for emergency treatment and is currently in critical condition.

The incident remains under active investigation. WPD urges anyone with information to contact the department directly or send an anonymous tip through Tip 411.
