Man charged in motorcycle death

WILMINGTON — One man was charged in a fatal accident involving a motorcyclist.

Jose Emmanuel Diaz-Jimenez, 24, has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Misdemeanor Death by Motor Vehicle
  • Unsafe Movement Resulting in Serious Injury to a Motorcyclist
  • No Operator’s License

On October 25, 2025, at approximately 7:55 p.m., Wilmington Police Department officers responded to a vehicle versus motorcycle collision in the area of Carolina Beach Road and Shipyard Boulevard.

The investigation determined Thomas Jarrott was traveling southbound on Carolina Beach Road alongside another motorcyclist. As both riders continued south, a vehicle being operated by Diaz-Jimenez turned left from the center lane into a parking lot.

The first motorcyclist was able to swerve out of the way. However, the second motorcyclist was struck by the vehicle as he was turning. The collision resulted in fatal injuries to Jarrott.

Diaz-Jimenez was given a $30,000 secured bond and is being held at the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
