WILMINGTON — Roughly 180 customers will be affected by Cape Fear Public Utility Authority’s boil-water advisory to take effect Tuesday evening.

It begins at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5, and will affect residents at the following addresses:

  • The 0, 100, 200, and 300 blocks of North Fourth Street
  • The 300, 400, and 500 blocks of Grace Street
  • The 500 and 600 blocks of Red Cross Street
  • The 300 and 400 blocks of North 6th Street
  • The 300 and 400 blocks of North 5th Street
  • The 400 and 500 blocks of Walnut Street

Anyone in these areas may endure periods of low or no pressure in the water distribution system. There is also increased potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into system.

Customers not using bottled water should boil water for 1 minute and cool before consumption. This includes drinking, brushing teeth, making ice, preparing food, washing produce, and preparing baby formula or pet food.

The advisory does not apply to bathing or showering.

CPUA lab will test the water’s safety before lifting the advisory.
