WILMINGTON — A Wilmington man is going back to prison after pleading guilty to armed robbery charges after a similar conviction in 2021.

19-year old Zy’Merion Debose also pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in New Hanover Superior Court Monday. He will serve between 59 and 83 months for robbing several individuals of a phone and wallets in October 2023 before fleeing in a victim’s car.

Wilmington Police Department officers responded to Stewart Circle after several calls and were able to locate the car and track down the suspects. 19-year old Avion James-Graham is also charged for the robbery and his case is pending in superior court.

“We will not tolerate criminal activity on the streets of Wilmington,” Chief Donny Williams said in a statement. “This is another example of the hard work and dedication of the women and men of the Wilmington police department.”
