WILMINGTON — Rotary District 7730, including local chapters, are hosting a walk-a-thon in Miracle Field at Olsen Park (5510 Olsen Park Ln.) beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, and lasting until 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21.

The event is being held to educate the community on polio and help raise funds to benefit its elimination. Polio is a vaccine-preventable disease which still puts many children at risk.

Participants do not need to be a rotarian to participate and will obtain pledges based on per-hour walking. The event also includes simultaneous virtual participation.

Rotary is a global network of volunteers that work to tackle a variety of humanitarian challenges around the world, already having contributed more than 2.4 billion to ending polio.

The event is open to the public; more information can be found here
