OAK ISLAND — An Oak Island woman who went missing last week was found dead Sunday.
Hannah Nazzaro, 25, was reported missing Jan. 19. Her family had not seen her since the day before and asked the Oak Island Police Department to help locate her.
Nazarro’s body was found at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday in the marsh area of the Davis Canal, south of SE 27th Street. The cause of death is pending an autopsy.
Department officers worked with the family and searched several areas Nazzaro may have been with the help of a Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit, the Oak Island Fire Department, Oak Island Water Rescue, Brunswick County EMS and the town’s drone services.
