Woman charged in new year hit-and-run that injured teen

SOUTHPORT — The State Highway Patrol made an arrest in a hit-and-run that left a 14-year-old injured and hospitalized.

Joselyn Corzine Fullam, 43, of Southport was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 4, and charged with felony hit-and-run inflicting serious injury, failure to render aid at a collision, and failure to reduce speed.

She is being held at the Brunswick County Detention Center under a $50,000 bond.

The alleged hit-and-run took place at 1:15 a.m. on Jan. 1. The State Highway Patrol reported the collision occurred on River Road SE (N.C. 87) in Brunswick County. A juvenile riding a bicycle was struck by a vehicle near Dosher Cutoff SE.

After briefly stopping, the passenger vehicle fled the scene, SHP said, before law enforcement arrived.

As of Monday, the victim was being treated at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in the pediatric intensive care unit.
