NEW HANOVER COUNTY — The county’s center focused on Covid-19 vaccines will have a new phone number, starting this month.
The Pandemic Operations Call Center provides community members information regarding vaccines, boosters, and at-home testing kits. It can now be reached at 910-798-6601.
The call center is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If the previous number is called, a recorded message will direct the caller to the new number.
“When our COVID-19 response started, New Hanover County saw the importance of keeping the community updated and informed, and that commitment remains unchanged,” Pandemic Operations manager Jon Campbell said in a press release.
When the call center was first established, the emergency management and communications departments assisted with overseeing a dedicated phone line that is typically used for emergency situations. Now that the PanOps is permanently set up, the facility wanted to offer a dedicated number to its efforts.
As of Nov. 24, New Hanover County’s CDC Covid-19 community level remains low; mask usage is optional. The county’s percent positive rate as of Dec. 1 is 8.1%. Approximately 64.5% of residents have completed the initial Covid-19 vaccine series.
For those who haven’t, initial vaccines and boosters are still available each week on a walk-in basis at 1507 Greenfield Street from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays; the center stays open until 6 pm. on Thursdays. Free at-home test kits and masks are available during operating hours as well.
