NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A recent welfare check led to the discovery of two deceased individuals.
The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office visited 302 Horn Road on Wednesday, when a resident failed to show up for work. Upon arrival, deputies found Ashford Jones and his girlfriend Heather Grant dead inside the bedroom.
Both individuals suffered fatal gunshot wounds, and NHSCO’s preliminary conclusion is a murder-suicide. The investigation is ongoing.
