NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A water main leak is being corrected in the North Channel Haven Drive and surrounding areas, according to Cape Fear Public Utility Authority. Thus, a boil water advisory has gone into effect as of Thursday, Dec. 1.

Crews are on the scene, working to restore water service to roughly 60 customers as quickly as possible. Those impacted include everyone residing on North Channel Haven Drive and Serenity Point, as well as 114 and 188 Aqua Drive, and 4606 New Jack Road.

CFPUA said there will be periods of low or no pressure, which creates the potential for back siphonage and introducing bacteria into the water system.

Customers should boil water for 1 minute and cool before consuming.

A CFPUA lab staff test will take place to ensure the water is safe to drink before lifting the advisory.
