NEW HANOVER COUNTY — The sheriff’s office arrested a 40-year-old male for two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and three counts of kidnapping.
Kenneth Andrew Norville is being charged with robbing two area Dollar Generals — one located on Castle Hayne Road between downtown Wilmington and Castle Hayne, the other on Long Ridge Drive in Northchase.
New Hanover County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 93 Long Ridge Way store just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nob. 8. According to a sheriff’s office release, Norville arrived around 8:42 p.m. and, brandishing a firearm, demanded the counter-service employee to hand over money from the drawer. The employee complied and the robber left the store, walking toward a nearby Taco Bell on N. College Road.
On Wednesday evening, law enforcement were called to the Castle Hayne store around the same time as Tuesday’s incident, just before 9 p.m. The story was similar: The robber held up the store at 8:47 p.m., brandished a firearm, and demanded cash from the till, to which the employee acquiesced.
NHSCO did not report any injuries from the incidents. There were no further details regarding the kidnapping charges.
Norville is being held in the New Hanover County Detention Facility with $350,000 secure bond.
