Man charged with first-degree murder in fatal April shooting

Cameron Allen Gerald, 26, is being charged with first-degree murder.

WILMINGTON — A shooting on N. 11th St. in April resulted in the victim dying from his injuries. A suspect has now been arrested and charged for the murder.

Cameron Allen Gerald, 26, is being charged with first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Tyshaun Delts.

At around 2:30 p.m. April 5, Wilmington Police Department officers responded to a call in the 200 block of N. 11th St. Upon arrival, they located a victim with a gunshot wound. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

“Our thoughts and prayers are always with the victims’ family and loves ones who have been impacted by violent crime,” WPD Chief Donny Williams said. “I am proud of the women and men of the Wilmington Police Department. Seeking justice can sometimes be a slow process, but WPD is committed to doing all we can as we continue to work open cases. We want to thank the public, District Attorney’s office, and other partner agencies that assisted with this case and past cases.”
