WILMINGTON — The local community college has once again earned a Military Friendly School designation by veteran-owned VIQTORY. Cape Fear Community College received the honor in 2021-2022 and 2020-2021 academic years.
Each year, the organization compiles survey responses and public data sources to come up with a list of institutions that provide the best opportunities for veterans and their families.
“We are grateful to be recognized for this designation and will continue to serve and support our veterans and their families,” Jason Bocchino, veterans affairs coordinator at CFCC, said in a press release. “Our mission in Veterans Services is to deliver simple processes, quality resources and support for readjusting veterans.”
CFCC operates a Veterans Center at its Wilmington Campus, as well as two other veteran lounges at the North Campus in Castle Hayne, North Carolina, and the Alston W. Burke Center in Surf City, North Carolina. The locations connect veterans with resources and other veterans in a space they can call their own. CFCC also offers priority registration to veteran benefit holders.
“Our veterans have done so much for our country. CFCC is committed to bringing quality programs and specialized support services to veterans, active-duty military, and their families,” CFCC President Jim Morton said in the release. “We are honored to serve the military community as they take the next step in their academic journeys.”
