Motorcycle crash on South College Road leaves 1 dead, 2 injured

WILMINGTON — The female passenger on a motorcycle was pronounced dead on the scene Wednesday night following a crash on South College Road. The male driver has major injuries, according to a news release.

Wilmington Police Department units responded around 9:30 p.m. in the 600 block and reported the motorcycle appeared to have collided with the back of another vehicle. The driver of the car suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

The traffic unit is continuing the investigation as of Thursday morning.
