SURF CITY — Fire crews remain on scene at the old Blizzard’s Surfside Motel in Surf City. A structure fire was reported around 6 a.m. Tuesday at 213 N. Shore Dr. and when Surf City Fire Department arrived on the scene, the building was already three-quarters involved.
The department was able to contain the fire by 8 a.m. and is continuing to monitor the situation.
“We are grateful that the quick response led to minimal spread of the fire and that the impact was mostly contained to the structure,” Surf City fire chief Allen Wilson said in a press release.
Also assisting with the efforts were units from Pender EMS and Fire, North Topsail Beach Fire Department and Topsail Beach Fire Department.
