WILMINGTON — The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority will have crews completing survey work Wednesday into early Thursday morning. It could cause traffic delays along the North Third Street and Burnett Boulevard area.

Work will take place at the intersection of the two streets, beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Apr. 12. CFPUA employees will be assessing underground sewer infrastructure, and during the process, lanes of both South Front and Burnett will close intermittently.

Traffic at that point will shift into a single lane. It will not close the intersection and law enforcement will direct vehicles to ensure safe passage.

Crews will complete the survey work by 4 a.m., Thursday, Apr. 14, according to CFPUA.

“This survey is being completed as part of the planning process for a manhole replacement, which will be scheduled at a later date,” a release noted.
