CAROLINA BEACH — As Easter weekend gets underway, Carolina Beach will start its municipal beach patrols.
Friday, Apr. 15, officers will be monitoring the beach strand to ensure its safety and cleanliness. Patrol staff will speak with beachgoers and educate them on regulations, rules and ordinances.
Citations for ordinance violations will be written and can run anywhere from $50 to $500.
Beachgoers should be aware of a few restrictions:
• No glass containers allowed
• No alcohol allowed
• Do not litter; pack it in/pack it out
• No dogs allowed between 9 a.m and 5 p.m. (see dog regulations here)
• Do not walk, sit, or set up beach equipment on or near sand dunes
• If you dig a hole, you must fill in before leaving
• Do not leave chairs, tents, or other equipment on beach overnight. Equipment left beachside from sunset to sunrise could result in a $40-a-day fine.
Officers mostly patrol during weekends through Memorial Day before taking to the beach seven days a week thereafter.
