SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — Novant Health has partnered with Ottendorf Laboratories, LLC, out of Apex, N.C., to open two Covid-19 mass testing sites in the area. Due to the rising number of cases from the omicron variant, Ottendorf Laboratories will have team members set up at two testing locations to assist with PCR tests.
Testing opens Monday, Jan. 31, and is free, but rapid testing will not be available at either location. Appointments, ID and health insurance are not necessary for testing.
One site will be located next to Wilmington’s New Hanover Regional Medical Center, 2015 S. 17th St., and will operate 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The other will be featured at Bolivia’s Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center at 240 Hospital Dr. and will open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. On Monday, Jan. 31, the location will not open until 10 a.m.
“We hope this will ease pressure on our busy emergency departments, which can see dozens of individuals daily who are asymptomatic or not seriously ill but come solely for a COVID-19 test,” said Shelbourn Stevens, president of the Novant Health Coastal region. “These COVID-19 locations will be more appropriate and convenient settings to simply take a test.”
