WILMINGTON –– Two brothers were in a domestic altercation Sunday afternoon, when around 4:30 p.m., Wilmington Police Department officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Kent Avenue.

One brother, Benjamin Patrick Jr., 41, shot through the front door from outside the home. Patrick also busted out a window and attempted to gain entry “where he was stabbed by the victim,” WPD announced in its release.

Officers worked to de-escalate the incident upon arrival. Patrick was taken into custody and transported to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.

He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession of a firearm by a felon, discharge of a firearm into an occupied dwelling, discharging a firearm in a reckless manner, and breaking or entering.

Patrick is being held under a $600,000 secured bond.
