Man drowns on Bald Head Island

BALD HEAD ISLAND — Around 2:05 p.m. on Tuesday, a 55-year-old man was pulled from the water on Bald Head Island.

The island’s public safety officers attempted to resuscitate him at Beach Access #15 near Snowy Egret Trail. Life-saving measures were unsuccessful, according to authorities.

The victim’s name will not be released until family members have been notified.
