Collision leaves two with serious injuries, one with $35k secured bond

WILMINGTON — A Thursday evening collision near downtown Wilmington left two with injuries and one arrested with a $35,000 secured bond. No one was fatally injured.

While crossing the Isabel Holmes Bridge, onto Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, 33-year-old Renaldo Prescott collided with a pickup that was traveling south on N. 3rd Street. Headed eastbound, the Penske box truck Prescott was driving flipped on its side after crashing into the pickup.

The fire department was called to extricate the passenger and driver of the pickup. Both suffered head trauma and fractured femurs.

Police charged Prescott with multiple offenses:

  • Wrong way on one-way
  • DWI
  • License restriction violation
  • Felony serious injury by vehicle
  • PWISD cocaine
  • Possession of cocaine
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Simple possession of marijuana

Prescott was given a $35,000 secured bond. Traffic was shut down for four hours at the scene.
