CDC softens mask guidance for the fully vaccinated, N.C. indoor mandate still in effect

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention soften mask wearing guidance Thursday for the fully vaccinated.

In the updated recommendation, the agency said people who received their final dose of the Covid-19 vaccine at least two weeks ago no longer need to wear a face covering unless required by law or rules established by a business or workplace.

The new guidance also suggests that fully vaccinated people can refrain from testing after being knowingly exposed to the virus unless they live or work in a correctional or detention facility or homeless shelter.

North Carolina still has an indoor mask mandate in effect. The governor lifted the outdoor mask mandate unless in a situation where 6 feet of distancing is unattainable.
