The City of Wilmington administrative offices will close at 4 p.m. Thursday in anticipation of extreme weather.
“Current forecasts predict severe weather moving into the Wilmington area by mid-afternoon and lasting into the evening,” according to a city press release. “Friday operations will resume as normal.”
A Board of Adjustments meeting will proceed as-scheduled at 1 p.m. but “all other afternoon meetings are cancelled and will be rescheduled,” according to a city spokesperson.
“Trash and recycling customers are encouraged to have all trash bins secured prior to the weather event. Customers with scheduled Friday collection are asked to not place their bins at the road until after the weather event has passed and are reminded that collection service begins at 7 a.m.”
School programs at community centers and recreation sports leagues are also postponed.
The Municipal Services District Advisory Board and City Council’s Naming Committee Focus Group meetings are cancelled.
